Bird's Eye on Style // June 2013

A romantic palette of floral colors and prints abound the island this summer. Maybe it's true every June, as it is one of the most beautiful months of the year in NY, but it's definitely out there in full force this year! Who doesn't want to wear a mini jumper, high-waisted pleated silk pants, or a tied up blouse while they bask in Rainer Maria Rilke's sonnets on the grass in Tompkins Square, slurping a 9th Street Espresso iced coffee? In fact, this is my definitive weekend hobby this month. Here are snaps of some graceful, effortless beauties I've come across in the recent weeks who probably do the same.

Monique dazzles in her subtly and seductively masculine vintage attire from Dusty Buttons, which houses one of the best mid-century date-night dress collections in the city.

Theresa is a sweetie who probably has the best assortment of mason jar terrariums in all of Williamsburg, I'm guessing. Her rounded beach hat, tied-up blouse, and high-waisted pants are perfect for day or night flirtation.
Darling Pavla snagged this vintage jumper at Deer Creatures and I almost fought her for it. It's perfect for the summer date or weekend brunch (barf, I hate brunch). Afternoon coffee dazzler, perhaps. Sweet solstice Megan is wearing the only jumper I've seen around town with an open back. Best part is it's a gift from her grandmother! This is the definitive PM cat-caller. Leather bag courtesy of the tannery artisans at the Brooklyn Crafts Fair, and the leather cuffed sandals are from Bali. Sorry bout that one, girls!
